Dr. Michael Hoge chose to pursue a career in dentistry because he believes it offers unique opportunities to combine art, science and service to others.  Being a periodontist allows him to help patients effect positive change in their lives while preserving or restoring their smile.

Dr. Hoge received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin with a double major in Biology and Spanish.  He earned his D.M.D. at Boston University’s Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2007 where he received the Oral Biology Award for his research into ways oral health affects overall health.

Dr. Hoge served for ten years in the United States Air Force, during which time he attained his Certificate in Periodontics through the Air Force Postgraduate Dental School and Master’s Degree in Periodontics from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.  While in the Air Force, he served as the Chief of Periodontics for the 579th Dental Squadron at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling.  He currently serves as the dentist for the Washington, D.C. Air National Guard.

Dr. Hoge is sympathetic to his patients’ fears about going to the dentist.  He believes strongly in the importance of good communication between patient, providers and staff.  Dr. Hoge cares about his patients’ health and smiles, and is dedicated to providing the best possible dental experiences coupled with excellent treatment outcomes.

Dr. Hoge enjoys staying on the forefront of technology and research in the field of periodontics and has completed over one hundred hours of continuing education since finishing his residency training.  He demonstrated his mastery of the literature in 2015 by earning the top score on his board exam.  Dr. Hoge is a member of the following organizations:

Dr. Hoge currently lives with his wife and children in Alexandria, VA.  In his spare time he enjoys all types of outdoor activities, live music and sports.
