Dr. Michael Hoge
Dr. Michael Hoge always felt that dentistry offered unique opportunities to combine art, science, and service to other. Being a periodontist allows him to help patients effect positive change in their lives and achieve good oral health while keeping their smile intact.
Dr. Hoge attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree of Science with a double major in Biology and Spanish. He earned his D.M.D. at Boston University’s Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2007, and received the Oral Biology award for research into oral-systemic correlations.
Dr. Hoge was commissioned into the United States Air Force during dental school and entered active duty upon graduation. After completing an Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at the United State Air Force Academy, he practiced general dentistry for three years at Cannon AFB, NM, before receiving his Certificate in Periodontics through the Air Force Postgraduate Dental School and Master’s Degree in Periodontics from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio.
Dr. Hoge’s background in general dentistry provides a solid foundation for multidisciplinary treatment planning, and he is extremely committed to a close collaboration with referring doctors. Dr. Hoge cares about his patients’ health and smiles, and is dedicated to providing the best possible dental experiences coupled with excellent treatment outcomes.
Dr. Hoge gained board certification through the American Board of Periodontology in 2015 and received the Salkin Achievement Award for attaining the highest overall score on the exam. He serves as the Chief of Periodontics for the 579th Dental Squadron at Joint Base Anacostia Bolling, oversees the didactic and clinical training of AEGD residents in periodontics, and is a member of or associated with the following organizations:

- American Academy of Periodontology
- International Congress of Oral Implantologists
- Virginia Academy of Comprehensive Dentistry
Dr. Hoge currently lives in Alexandria with his wife, Taylor and their three sons. He enjoys spending time at the mountains or beach, having fun while hiking, snowboarding, cycling, swimming, and doing other outdoor activities followed by a family meal.
